The Adventures of Pinky at the North Luncheon

Laurie and KathyToday, I traveled up north to my first Women’s Chamber North Luncheon at the Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa.  I listened to speaker Kathy McConnell-Miller, CU’s head Women’s Basketball Coach.  Kathy was very inspiring and funny.  Growing up the sixth of eight kids in a house with only bathroom, she learned patience, conflict resolution and how to be competitive.  For two years, Kathy and her sister played basketball on the boy’s basketball team because her school did not have a girl’s team until it caught on and they made a girls team.  In high school, her team went on to win the state basketball championship.

Kathy has been a basketball coach for 19 years and continues to improve her team here in Colorado.  Because her schedule is so busy coaching and spending time with her family, she said that time is so valuable and she does not want to waste it.  She said that it is important to make the most out of the free time that you have. Kathy and Deb

At the end of the lunch, I had Kathy sign my CU Women’s Basketball 2008-2009 team poster.  Luncheon sponsor Deborah Krier with Wise Women Communications also had her poster signed.

What a great speaker!
